Boulos is criticized for omitting the left in speech about ICMS
The minister Guilherme Boulos was criticized by Republican lawmakers after he criticized governor Tarcísio de Freitas for the increase in ICMS on diesel, without mentioning that the decision was made collectively by Confaz, including states governed by the left.
The elected federal deputy Guilherme Piai (Republicanos-SP) stated that the minister Guilherme Boulos is “distributing fake news” by criticizing the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, for the increase of the ICMS on diesel. The statement was made after Boulos attacked Tarcísio on social networks, attributing to him the responsibility for the tax hike, without mentioning that the measure was approved in a collegiate form by the National Council of Farm Policy (Confaz).
According to Piai, the decision involved representatives of all states, including Bahia, Ceará and Piauí, governed by the PT and Lula’s allies. State deputy Tomé Abduch (Republicanos-SP) also spoke, declaring that “the price follows a written formula”. The speech suggests that the increase of the ICMS is not an arbitrary decision of the governor of São Paulo, but rather the result of a technical calculation approved by the secretaries of Treasury of the states.
